EMS Announces Strategic Partnership with Hammer to bring Energy Efficient Data Centre Storage Infrastructure to Europe
Basingstoke, 28th May 2010: Elliptical Mobile Solutions (EMS), the global leaders in Micro-Modular Data Centres, today announced its strategic distribution partnership with Hammer, the number one European distributor dedicated solely to storage.
The cornerstone of the agreement will enable Hammer’s European customers to purchase EMS’ enclosures to house their customer’s networking and storage infrastructure. These enclosures fully replicate the capabilities of a traditional data centre or containerized data centre while offering significant capital, operational and energy cost savings.
“EMS’s Micro-Modular Data Centres provide customers with a unique alternative to the ‘traditional data centre’,” says Gerard Marlow, General Manager of Business Development at Hammer. “Combined with Hammer’s leading knowledge and expertise in the Enterprise Data Storage Market, EMS’s products will allow us to provide a complete Data Centre infrastructure that is quickly deployable and delivers exceptionally low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).”
Together, the companies will be showcasing EMS’ R.A.S.E.R. (Relocatable Adaptive Suspension Equipment Rack) and C3-S.P.E.A.R. Data Centre (Climate-Controlled Campus Self-Propelled Electronic Adaptable Rack) in Booth 821 at the International Supercomputer Conference, Europe’s leading conference and exhibition on high performance computing, networking and storage. The event will be held from May 30 to June 3 at the CCH-Congress Centre Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany.
Last month, EMS’ R.A.S.E.R. was named a finalist for Best of Interop Infrastructure. The Awards recognize the world's most innovative technologies across nine major categories. “Hammer is dedicated to understanding its customers and their markets,” said Don Kennedy, Senior Vice President of International Sales for Elliptical Mobile Solutions. “We are pleased that they have been able to embrace our technology as an innovative alternative and look forward to launching our products with them throughout Europe.”
Since its founding, EMS has attempted to reinvent the data centre industry using energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness as its guiding principals. Today, it is the only company in the world to build rack level enclosures with onboard security, cooling and fire suppression.
The enclosures contain industry standard 19” racks that can house the world’s most high-tech equipment including networking storage, storage area networks, storage servers, iSCSI, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel and FCoE-based converged network devices.
Enclosures can be fully built and populated ready for deployment within weeks compared to months or longer, greatly accelerating data centre infrastructure implementations.
EMS’ rack level enclosures are perfectly scalable allowing new servers, switches and storage devices to be added immediately or on an “as needed” basis without disrupting current data centre operations.
Additionally, enclosures offer the flexibility to interchange network architectures with no impact to existing operations and with greater uptime and availability.
As a result, EMS’ technology offers up to 80 percent savings in capital costs; up to 60 percent savings in operational costs; up to 50 percent savings in cooling and electricity costs; and up to 75 percent floor space savings.
The range extends Hammer’s enterprise storage product offering to its pan-European customer base, enhancing the level of hardware infrastructure available to resellers by combining both innovative and cost-effective data centre solutions.
“Hammer is excited about this new strategic partnership with EMS and we will be looking for niche VARs (Value Added Resellers) across Europe to deliver EMS’s products to their customer base,” continues Marlow. “We believe many VARs providing traditional hardware into the Data Centre marketplace will see the unique benefits that EMS’s products can deliver, and we are looking forward to working with them in delivering EMS’s products together with our enterprise data storage solutions.”
